CHRIS PREEN MEMORIAL TOURNAMENT

The Chris Preen Sr. Memorial Tournament will be open to non-members of the Lakehead Dart League at a registration cost of $10 per person. Entry is free for all LDL members. Lunch will be provided.

All monies raised will be split between George Jeffrey Children's Treatment Centre and NODA Fundraising Committee (to be used for costs involved with hosting the 2012 NDFC Youth and Adult Canadian National Darts Championships)

A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENTThis year is going to be a big one for Thunder Bay AND it's dart players, as we get ready to host the best of the best of all of Canada's top players at the NDFC Youth and Adult Nationals and the Canadian Open. I urge all of you to be a part of these events in some way, whether it be by being a participant, or by lending a hand in the fundraising efforts, or by being a part of the many other preparations that need to be completed over the next few months. This is our chance to show the world who Thunder Bay is and what great people and dart players we all are. This year's Chris Preen Memorial Dart Tournament will be taking place on Oct 22 at the Mooose on May Street and will once again be a Fundraising event. The proceeds of this year's tournament will be split between George Jeffrey and NODA (2 topics that were near and dear to Chris Sr's heart, helping children and playing darts). The tournament will again be open to non-members at a cost of $10 for and free for all Lakehead Dart League members. At last year's tournament turn-out was low, but due to the overwhelming generosity of those that did come out, we raised an amazing $1,720 to donate to George Jeffrey Children's Center. We hope, with your help, to do even better this year. Mark the date on your calendar, plan to get the day off work, arrange for a babysitter, and whatever else is required to be able to attend this tournament. Hope to see you there. We will also be continuing the Spare Player Pool this year, so if you or anyone you know don't want to commit to playing for any 1 team (for whatever reason), please contact any member of the executive and we will make sure to add your name to the list. Again, I urge you to get involved with the biggest thing that's happened to Thunder Bay Darts EVER!!! Let's make it the event that everyone will remember in the city that everyone will remember. LAKEHEAD DART LEAGUE HALL OF FAME

The Lakehead Dart League Hall of Fame was established to pay homage to players who have displayed great acts of dedication to the league and other dart organizations within the City of Thunder Bay.

Each of these inductees have shown an exemplary level of sportsmanship and their actions have helped to expand and improve the sport within our community.

Congratulations to all of the inductees and thank you for helping to make darts better for all of us.

Terry Rantala

Inducted during the 2010/2011 Season

Throughout his career Terry Rantala has played tournaments across Canada and into the United States, becoming a great ambassador of the sport of darts. Since joining the Lakehead Dart League in 1989 Terry has served on the LDL Executive, holding positions in each category for at least 1 year per position.As a NODA member since its development in 1995 Terry qualified for the provincial team and represented our province at the Canadian National Dart Championships in Newfoundland in 2000. As the past Tournament Director of the CF Dart Tournament (6 years) and the current Tournament Director of the Darts For Autism Tournament Terry has helped raise thousands of dollars for two worth causes.Terry’s accomplishments as a builder, ambassador and dedicated advocate of the sport has earned him a place in the Lakehead Dart League’s Hall of Fame.

Darts For Charity
Darts for Charity is a non-profit organization that hosts a steel tip dart tournament in Thunder Bay every spring. Competitors from all over Northwestern Ontario compete in the three day tournament to raise money for cystic fibrosis research.
